There’s a question underlying all the trans issues, from sport to prisons, to toilets and changing rooms, to refuges, to all-women shortlists, to the redefinition of women as a gender rather than a sex class.
It’s very simple : why aren’t women allowed to say no? Why is our ‘no’ not immediately accepted and respected, with no reasons required? Why are our boundaries up for debate *at all*?
If transwomen were women, they’d say : “transwomen are women! “
We’d say : “actually we’re a sex class. We’re adult human females.”
And they’d say : “Oh. I see. Well, I’m sure you must be right, of course. Sorry to have bothered you.”
And that would be that.
